The Minnesota Elder Justice Center invites you to the 18th Annual Minnesota World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Conference to be held at the Heritage Center of Brooklyn Center, MN, on June 13th, 2024.

Justin Ramsdell

Recognizing and Responding to Trauma in Older Adults

Dr. Ramsdell is a clinical psychologist and Associate Professor of Psychology at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia whose teaching and research focuses on forensic psychology. Specifically, his work focuses on law enforcement interactions with victims of crime and/or individuals diagnosed with severe mental illnesses, the psychological experience of crime victims, and police crisis de-escalation training and techniques. Aside from teaching psychology at the undergraduate level he also serves as a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trainer conducting regular trainings on crisis de-escalation and law enforcement interactions with individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness. Additionally, he currently works as an expert witness/consultant in legal cases involving the interactions of law enforcement personnel with individuals with mental illness and/or victims of crime.
