Trends in Fraud & Identity Theft – Consumer Protections
There are countless ways that scammers can convince people to send money, but there are relatively few ways the money can be sent. Scammers favor transactions that first keep them from getting caught, and second, reduce the likelihood of a professional or other helpful person from intervening and stopping the transfer. Understanding the consumer protections (or lack of thereof) on different types of payments can be the difference between a close call and a fraud victim whose entire life savings is stolen. In this webinar, Jay Haapala of AARP-MN will cover scams and fraud with an emphasis on consumer protections.
